Girls Leadership Academy Meetup (GLAM Ready To Lead) operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers, educates, and inspires girls aged 8-12 to become self-confident young women and positive future leaders. We help bridge the gender gap by providing relevant skills and highlighting positive female role models for girls to seek leadership roles, feel power within their voice, and create positive change in the world.
With presentations from female leaders and C-suite executives, girls learn ‘soft skills’ like self-confidence, leadership, teamwork, and effective communication, as well as ‘business skills’ like entrepreneurship, business plan development, and strategy. With creativity and STEM in mind, attendees also participate in breakout sessions of vision boarding and computer coding, using the Scratch coding language and curriculum authored by GLAM. The culminating project is to develop a business plan, prepare a business pitch, and present that pitch to a professional panel of judges. During mentoring sessions with Chelsey Baker, CEO of National Mentoring Day, girls learn how to apply both skill types into public speaking and business pitching. This is a rare opportunity, as Chelsey Baker is also UK’s #1 public speaking and business pitch expert, receiving over 10 awards for her inspirational mentoring, providing training to hundreds of businesses, from startups to multimillion pound companies, and leading government mentoring projects.
Our award-winning, immersive, transformational STEM education and leadership programs have been successfully delivered with leading tech companies, including Arm, Cisco, eBay, Google, and Microsoft. GLAM Events are held either virtually or in person, increasing our global impact. Through corporate sponsorships, we have inspired over 1,056 girls in 12 countries since 2016, with a goal of 5,000 girls by 2030. Through our GLAM Ambassadorship Program for older girls, we have empowered 50 girls, with a goal of 500 mentors by 2030.
