As we celebrate Global Goals Week, we’re excited to announce that GLAM is joining the Decade of Action to support the delivery of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development by 2030.
Together with the partners and friends of GLAM, we are committed to reaching and empowering 1 million girls and showcasing 1,000 women in STEM by 2030.
These commitments will contribute to Global Goals 4, 5, 10.
Like many small charities, we found ourselves impacted by COVID-19. Now more than ever, we need to reach girls who are underserved and underrepresented. In the next 18 months, we are committed to achieving the following:
Virtual events: We will be delivering virtual events with our founding partner organizations.
People Like Me: Utilizing resources developed by WISE (Women in Science and Engineering), we will help girls embrace who they are, have confidence in their future, and know that they can change the world.
2-day immersive events: We remain hopeful that we will be able to recommence our award-winning GLAM events for girls in the summer of 2021
You can’t be what you can’t see. At GLAM, we know the importance of role models. It is not enough to do the above; we must also invite role models to share their journeys in a way that relates to and inspires girls. We must ensure that our role models are honest and talk about setbacks, obstacles they’ve overcome, and failures that made them stronger. That’s why we will be inviting 1,000 women in STEM to join us and showcase their journeys.
Superpower Role Model Profiles: Continue to showcase exemplary women in STEM on the GLAM website.
Speakers: Women leaders in STEM support our virtual and immersive events by speaking and sharing their journeys.
Mentors: GLAM will continue to utilize mentors for maximum impact
What’s next for GLAM?
If not now, then when? It’s not so easy to pivot when you’re a small charity, but we have some fantastic founding partners, a winning formula for empowering girls, and our friends of GLAM—together known as “the winning combination.” We all have a role to play in achieving the Global Goals, and together we can ensure more girls have access to quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities. While we may start off small, we’re 100% committed to ensuring that our impact is meaningful and transformative for the girls that we reach.

About the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (Global Goals)
Adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015, the Global Goals include 17 goals on everything from ending extreme poverty to gender equality, water quality, zero hunger, decent work, and clean, affordable energy. Achieving the SDGs’ ambitions will require collaboration and contributions from all sectors—business, government, and civil society.
